Tarek Attiya

Tarek is an Egyptian journalist. He has been a leading activist in internet media since the late 1990s, having founded Cairolive.com and Zahma.com and worked as an assistant chief editor of Al-Ahram Weekly. Tarek’s writings have been published in renowned international newspapers like the Washington Post and the Swiss Neue Zürcher Zeitung.

He has worked in the media development field since 2006 and designed and executed skill development programs for over 5000 journalists, editors and mangers at various print, audio, visual and digital media platforms. He also works as a visiting professor at the Media College of Cairo University, the American University of Cairo (AUC) and the International Media Academy in Hamburg, Germany.

In 2011, Attiya founded the Egyptian Media Development Program (EMDP), launching media and journalism projects with a major impact on journalism in the region, including Mantiqti, Zahma and the Egyptian Editors Forum (EEF).
