Firas is a Palestinian journalist and filmmaker based in London. During his time with BBC World Service, he worked as a news editor on two of BBC Arabic’s flagship programs. Firas achieved recognition after the 2011 Uprisings for his press coverage in war zones across the Middle East, especially Libya, Iraq and Syria.

Firas has directed dozens of documentaries during his career. In 2011, he won the Freedom of the Press Award and the International Media Award for Arab Journalism, and was selected for the Frontline Club list in the United Kingdom.
